The Torre de Belem is located within the Belem district of Lisbon. The Torre de Belém (Belem Tower) is undoubtedly Lisbon’s most iconic landmark. The tower was built in the sixteenth century in the Tagus river to control the entrance to the city from the sea.
I also enjoyed seeing each level from the prison at the bottom up to the canons, then up the stairs to different vantage points of the area. Be prepared to climb 93 narrow steps. The top level has a great view of the river and bridge in the distance. Another fun venture in Lisbon!
Thank you for stopping by!
