Vacation Mode – Essential to your well-being

Using your well-earned vacation time and personal days is an essential component to self-care.  I enjoy these moments in my life.  I take some time off at least three times a year. I enjoy having some quality time with family and friends.

Many of us are basically terrible at taking time away from work. Whether it’s because we just don’t have enough paid time off to plan a real vacation or because we think the world will end if we step away from our desks for more than a day, either way we’re majorly missing out on much-needed time to relax and regroup. Sometimes not taking a vacation does more harm than good, because too many hours in the office can cause you to burn out. I love my career as a litigation paralegal. I’ve been in the field for almost 20 years and getting away from “work” mode is alway a good way to rejuvenate the mind.

Because you only live once. It’s easy to continue to put off taking time off for countless reasons (all of which may be very valid!), but it’s so easy to just keep doing that forever. There’s no better time than now to make your vacation time happen, so cancel whatever “urgent” plans you may have and start packing. Taking a vacation isn’t a luxury — it’s essential to your well-being.
